73)  The Parable of the 10 Virgins

What does "watch" mean?

Psalm 50-23 He who does not worship the Lord and keep his way will not see the salvation of God.

Proverb 19-16 He who does not keep his way will die. He who keeps the commandments, will live.

Keep my Word said Jesus. I say it to all, take care. All exhortation is based on the continuity of the Christian life, the march forward, perseverance in faith, vigilance, sobriety, the fight against negligence.

Revelation 3-3 If you do not watch, I will come as a thief, and you will not know what time I will come on you.

Revelation 16-15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, that he may not walk naked, nor see his shame!

The righteous will live by his faith but if he leaves my soul does not take pleasure in him. Habakkuk 2-4 & Hebrews 10-38

Negligence can not be compensated at the last moment and we would miss the entrance to the wedding hall.

Luke 12-35 Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning.

Here oil is not an oil of anointing, but an oil that feeds my lamp: my fervor, my love, my zeal. So to maintain in me by all the ways of piety, ardor and love for the Lord, I will love his advent and will retain in me a prophetic word.

2 Peter 1-19 And we are all the more certain of the prophetic word, which you do well to pay attention, as a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day comes and that the morning star rises in your hearts

2 Peter 3-9 The Lord is not slow in fulfilling the promise, as some believe; but he has patience with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but wanting everyone to come to repentance.
